Funding Priorities

Grant opportunities encourage teachers to implement pioneering methods, which can impact many students and lead to new approaches in teaching with the potential for widespread application. Dollars for grant awards come from generous donations by area residents and corporations. Students benefit immediately from these donations, evident in the innovations in the classroom. In 2009 alone, these grants impacted more than 5,430 students.

Instructional Impact Grants provide funds of up to $5,000 for projects that impact entire grade levels, departments, campuses or the district. Announced in March and funded in May, these awards are designated for use during the following school year.

Classroom Project Grants provide awards of up to $1,000 to classroom teachers for immediate use. These grants are awarded and funded each September.

Teacher Tuition Awards of $300 are given twice each school year, chosen by random drawing. The awards help defray the cost of continuing education for teachers.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Program funding is designated to help implement new IB programs in Arlington’s high schools.

Medical Emergency Support helps at-risk students secure treatment or resources, otherwise unavailable, for a quick return to their classroom.
