Board Members
The Arlington ISD Education Foundation directors have strong and deep ties to our community, making them ideal advocates for the education of the youth of Arlington. The board includes representatives from local businesses, corporations, and the community at large. The district superintendent acts as Board Secretary to assure coordination between the Foundation and district goals.

In addition to working with the Greater Arlington Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Arlington, Elizabeth is also a member of the inaugural class of the Arlington ISD Insider and Junior League.
Laura Jones, Retired AISD Principal
Laura is a retired educator, having served 28 years with the Arlington Independent School District. She concluded her career as a high school principal at Martin. She grew up in the school business and is proud to be a third-generation educator (plus a third-generation high school administrator, following in the footsteps of her father and both grandfathers). Laura received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master in Education from Texas Tech University.
Jerry McCullough, Superintendent, Arlington ISD
Jerry McCullough joined the AISD in 1969 and taught history at Ferguson, Nichols and Shackelford junior high schools and Lamar High School. His first administrative appointment came in 1981, when he was named an assistant principal at Lamar. One year later, he helped open Martin High School, serving as assistant principal from 1982 to 1985. He was later promoted to principal of Arlington High School in 1985.
Jerry was named associate superintendent in 1989 and promoted to deputy superintendent in 1993. During his tenure as deputy superintendent, he served as interim superintendent from July 1992 to January 1993 and from July 2008 until January 2009. The AISD Board of Trustees named McCullough superintendent on Jan. 14, 2009. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from Baylor University and a Master’s degree from the University of North Texas.
Alvie Burdine, President, Burdine Financial
Alvie, a past president of the AISD Education Foundation, has been an active participant with numerous community boards and organizations including Leadership Arlington, the Arlington Parks and Recreation Board (chair), Board of Directors for Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Board of Directors for the AWARE Foundation, Lamar High School Football Booster Club (twice president), Kiwanis Club of Arlington (twice president), AISD Citizens’ Budget Review Committee, and the City of Arlington Storm Water Management Committee. Alvie is a graduate of Texas Tech University. He and his wife, Gale, have three sons—Lyle, Landry and Logan—all of whom are AISD graduates.
Ann Morris, District Manager, State Rep. Diane Patrick's Office
Ann has more than 40 years of experience building a sense of community for non-profits in Arlington. She is a founding director of the AISD Education Foundation, serving for more than 15 years. Ann has also served the AISD as a Board Trustee and chair of the Arlington Human Service Planners. As a trained educator, Ann began her teaching career in Dallas, moving to Garland and finally to the Arlington ISD. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Texas. Ann and her husband, Dick, are the parents of three and grandparents of five.
David Sanders, IT Manager, Siemens IT Solutions
David A. Sanders, PMP, is currently is a Transition Project Manager for Siemens IT Solutions and Services, after serving as a Project Manager–Advanced for EDS, and as a Technical Operations Manager for Lockheed Martin. He earned his B.A.E. from Georgia Tech, his M.S.A.E. from The University of Texas – Arlington and Project Management Professional certification in 2001. David and his wife, Lisa, have two children who attend AISD.
Jim Holgersson, City Manager, City of Arlington
Jim has been City Manager of the City of Arlington since June 2005. His career in public administration began in 1974 as Senior Assistant to the City Administrator for the City of Davenport, Iowa. From 1981 until 1998, Jim served as City Administrator or City Manager in the cities of Germantown, Tennessee; Kalamazoo, Michigan; and Waco, Texas. Jim then worked for two years in the private sector as Executive Director of the Rapoport Foundation in Waco. Jim returned to city management in 2000 when he accepted a Deputy City Manager position with the City of San Jose, California, where he spent five years.
Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana College and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Arkansas. He is active in the International City Management Association.
Jeanne Paull-Turner, Retired AISD Principal
Jeanne is a retired administrator from the Arlington ISD, with her last assignment being Foster Elementary School. She has 40 years of experience in the education arena. Her community involvement has been wide reaching, from education and service organizations to many heath care concerns. Jeanne received her Masters in Administration from North Texas State University and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas Tech.
Dale Sharpe-Jenkins, The Jenkins Agency
Dale is the owner of The Jenkins Agency, an insurance company in Arlington, TX.
Susan Skaggs, Director of Civic Affairs, Dallas Cowboys
Susan is an expert in civic affairs with a 19-year association with the Dallas Cowboys. Her personal and professional efforts reflect a special commitment to improving the quality of life for Dallas Cowboy communities. Susan obtained a Master of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from Texas A & M.
Kathy Jackson, Executive Director of AISD Education Foundation
Kathy has more than 20 years of leadership experience within non-profit and educational organizations. She took the reins at the Education Foundation in 2006 and has since dramatically increased the grant-making capacity and consumer impressions. Her contributions include planning and implementing donor-centric activities, overseeing the grant application process, automating systems and processes, and increasing public awareness and involvement. She previously worked as Director of Development for the Tarrant Area Food Bank. Kathy earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from William Tyndale College. She and her husband, Bob, have a blended family of five children.
